I have been having bandwidth issues on my VPN connection to my company which has been giving me great headaches over the past week. Now I continue to be amazed by Microsoft constantly overlooking the horrible file copy capabilities of Windows, but it does leave a nice Niche market spot for file copy utilities.
I finally got smart and started looking for a file copy utility that could handle my VPN's inconsistent nature. About the last item on the Live Search results for Resumable File Copy lead me to Copy Handler (http://www.copyhandler.com). Given the quality of the product I am amazed at the price, free, and I am very impressed with its overall performance. I have successfully downloaded several files that I have been trying to download for days using this utility.
Here is how it works, Copy Handler monitors your system clipboard, so all you do is copy the file you want and when you are ready to paste it right click and select the Paste (CH) option from the menu. Now copy handler will deal with downloading the file piece by piece. Some nice features are that you can set up multiple files to be copied and they are queued so when the first is complete the next begins, rather than trying to split the bandwidth. You are even able to customize the copy process by specifying the "chunk" size you want to make better use of your network bandwidth.
Enjoy!
